My journey in to Photography 2

The next photos are of surroundings in Johannesburg, South Africa

In the country we live in, burglar bars are a necessity; why not make it art?

Amongst all the decaying buildings in and around Johannesburg, I still come across gems like this one that grabs my attention. This building is one of them. Although the photo is a black & white, this building's true colour is a bright green with white trimmings. The colour scheme suggests the changing cultural profile evident in this fluid urban landscape - the old being brightened up by its new occupants.

The photo below was inspired by a range of pictures I saw in a coffee shop - I really liked the look and feel.
It gives me the sense of moving forward without forgetting the past.

The remains of an old tram shed that once serviced the transport needs of a growing city - now just a reminder of what once was. It is a beautiful old building that portraits workmanship and character of that era.

The two well crafted figures holding up the balcony of a building from the 19th century - it really interested me. It gave me the sense of the challenges we face in our own times and all the responsibility we face; yet we we do it with pride.

A modern glass building towering out amongst the older established and more characteristic buildings, blending old and new.

Just on the other side of the road is a good example as shown on the photo below of the old more characteristic building.

This white figure looking down holding a child in her arms with the perfect blue sky in the background, portrays serenity and peacefulness.

Dedication and devotion portrayed in this photo. The dad taking his son through the paces till perfection.

A defunct railway line that have become a footpath - seemingly leading nowhere - gives the feeling of hope and tranquillity, and a sense of sadness for what once was, now only a slight trace.

A railway track that has fallen into disuse - it portrays a sense of sadness for what once was, now only a slight trace.

This photo of a country-side road guarded by two trees stretching on for miles, gives a sense of 'a road less travelled'. However, with Johannesburg city (the city of gold) behind the horizon gives the promise of a better life.

One of my favourite photos,  it gives me the feeling of us speeding forward, but looking back into the past remains unchanged.
